1864 Nevada became the 36th state

Nevada's capital is Carson City, the largest city is Las Vegas. Nevada became the 36th state, as the 2nd of 2 states added to the Union during the Civil War (the 1st being West Virginia). Nevada is known for its libertarian laws. The establishment of legalized gambling and lenient marriage and divorce proceedings in the 20th century transformed Nevada into a major tourist destination. Nevada is the 4th largest producer of gold in the world.
