1901 Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as 26th president

Born New York City, New York; October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919. Vice President Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as president, after the assassination of President McKinley. He was 42 years old when sworn in as President, making him the youngest president ever. Roosevelt was also the first of only three sitting presidents to have won the Nobel Peace Prize (1906). The teddy bear is named for him, despite his contempt for being called "Teddy".
